Currently in the Polish National Register there are only four varieties of buckwheat: kora, panda, smuga and korona. These varieties come from the Plant Breeding Center in Kraków. After 3 years of testing each of these varieties on our farm for yield, effectiveness, taste and climate resistance, we decided to specialize in one variety of buckwheat – panda.

Panda buckwheat seeds are characterized by high quality and disease resistance. They are also resistant to spring cold and drought. In addition, they have excellent nutritional values and exquisite taste.

Buckwheat seeds are suitable for sowing on various soils, including those of lower quality. However, it should be remembered that despite high adaptability to existing conditions, this plant also has certain requirements that must be met. One of them is a high demand for thermal energy. The optimal temperature for plant growth and development is 20°C.

Our seeds, both in the form of buckwheat groats and further buckwheat flour, are used as food on their own or as a versatile baking ingredient. Other parts of this plant can also be used in herbal medicine; in our case, we use it as compost for the next year of growth and harvest. Due to its numerous nutritional values, buckwheat is particularly liked and respected by beekeepers. On our modest farm, we use about 15 hives to speed up and enrich the pollination process. As much as 95% of plants must have contact with bees during the flowering process for the grain to ultimately form.

Our buckwheat is a rich source of protein and other nutrients such as zinc, magnesium and potassium. Buckwheat is also a plant used in cattle farming. Buckwheat straw is an excellent animal feed, and its taste and nutritional values make it a popular choice among farmers and animal breeders.

Since buckwheat straw is sometimes mixed with straw from other grains, it can diversify the diet for animals that naturally consume various grasses and herbs. So buckwheat is not only a grain with rich nutritional value, but also an important element of the food chain in animal farming.
